American Airlines’ Info Request

Cory Doctorow posted over on Boing Boing about an experience he had earlier this month when flying from the UK to the US using American Airlines.  As he was going through security he was asked to “Please write down the names and addresses of everyone you’re staying with in the USA.” Cory questioned the ssecurity officers about why they needed the information, what they were going to do with it, etc.  He was bumped from supervisor to supervisor and eventually told he didn’t need to provide the information because he was a “Platinum AAdvantage member”.

Cory works for the :EFF: and was understandably concerned about such a seemingly bizarre request for information.  He’s written an open letter to American Airlines asking for some answers.
