Browser Wars II: The Saga Continues

Evolt has a very intriguing article up about the new browser wars.  Or rather, “Browser Wars II”.  The first Browser War was, of course, Netscape vs. :IE: and we all know how that ended: IE trounced Netscape and eventually we all came to be grateful since IE was legitimately better.

Now, though, we have word that IE won’t be updated for years and, though IE still thoroughly dominates marketshare, new contenders are starting to gain steam.  Obviously, there’s Safari over on Mac; by all accounts an excellent browser.  On the Windows side the emergent browser spot is being fought over by Mozilla and Opera.

Anyway, read the article for some really interesting (and, by and large, correct) thoughts on the subject.
