Chicago Blackhawks Schedule 2005-2006 for iCal

Just in case you want to keep with the Hawks, I’ve created an iCal calendar for the Chicago Blackhawks schedule for 2005-2006.  Just import it into an existing calendar, or double click and add it as its own.  I’m considering publishing it and updating it with scores of the games.  We’ll see.  For now, just download it.

The calendar is now published and updated with scores and game results.  Subscribe to (instead of downloading) the following URL in your calendar app in order to use the syncronized calendar.

Thanks for posting the Hawks schedule!  I’ve been checking with the Apple iCal library waiting for it to come out and it hasn’t.  Google led me to you.

No problem, Gregory.  For even more ease, you can subscribe directly to this calendar link within iCal.  I update the calendar with scores and results shortly after the games.  iCal (or Mozilla Cal if you’re using that) will sync it for you either scheduled or on demand by right clicking the calendar.  Go to Calendar / Subscribe, and paste this url:

That would be fine if it were in a negative or wrong use.  Like the tomahawk chop cheer that the Braves used to do.  Chicago’s use of it has always been a tribute to Chief Black Hawk of the Sauk Native American tribe.

Gainsayingly banning all American Indian usage as mascots is kneejerk, and does nothing to help the historical preservation of the culture (nor does allowing the name to sit hurt said preservation of culture).  The assumption that the use of Native American iconography indicates brutal barbarism shows more about the person making the assumption.  Do you assume that the Senators are named as such because Senators are bloodthirsty killers?  Perhaps the Patriots are a ransacking group of primitives?

I guess Carolina should change their name too, because hurricanes are bad, and people are especially sensitive to the topic at present.
