Day (X-7): Taking Care of Penny

I’m picking up Penny today from her second round at the trainer.  The first one was a two-week visit and this one was just about a week.  The trainer has been wonderful so far, but Penny is being pretty stubborn about cooperating and changing her behavior.

As I’ve mentioned before she has a few behavior issues.  Chief among them being that she barks or is aggressive with pretty much everyone she sees, regardless of whether she sees them on a walk or out the apartment window.  Needless to say this can be really frustrating, aggravating irritating, and even embarrassing (I’d really rather people not be genuinely frightened of my dog when I’m out walking her).

At least part of this whole problem is no doubt due to the fact that she has to spend the vast majority of every day cooped up in an apartment instead of running around somewhere exercising and investigating everything.  We’ve come to the conclusion that she really doesn’t belong in an apartment and needs at least a yard to run around in.  So we’ve been trying to find a new home for Penny, but so far no luck.

I’m hoping that this latest round of training will have helped her out more and I’m also hoping that we can find another family for Penny to go live with and get the exercise and stimulation she really needs and deserves.  So, if Santa’s out there maybe he can find her a suitable new home…

I think you mean irritating.  Aggravate means to make worse, or to increase.  That doesn’t quite match up with your subject and verb there.

*ducks*

Any chance of taking out a “city dog wants to be cowboy” ad in a newspaper of a rural town within driving distance of Austin?  I’d bet you’d get a good response that way.

It’s too bad it’s not turning out well, but I’ve been there before--a dog that just can’t handle the indoor life.  It was tough, especially for the woman, to get rid of her, but fortunately we were able to give the dog to her parents, who have a few acres.

The dog lived a much happier life.  I say lived, because last year the freaking postal driver ran over her and killed her.  In my in-laws driveway. :(

We haven’t reached the point where we’re taking out ads yet, but flyers have been posted in quite a few places.  We’ll see what happens.

Oh yeah?  Well shut up you… you… stupid head!! :furious:

*claps*

And here I would have edited out my mistake, and the comment’s reference to it.  Hats off to you, Mr. Brave Delete Tag User!

Are the flyers mentioning that she’s had 3 weeks of personal training?  You don’t have to tell how successful it’s been. wink

Just for the record; aggravating also means to exasperate or irritate.

Yes, and bootilicious is now also an official word in the dictionary.

wow, really? which dictionary?

Oxford English Dictionary.  The “definitive” resource for the English language or whatnot.  They even charge a subscription to use their online edition, and make it out like it has a lot of features.  I guess.  If you’re an English Professor or something, who needs all of the etemological background to the word bootilicious for a thesis.
