Getting More Out of Firefox

By now, most of you are probably aware that Firefox 2 was released recently.  Firefox 2 is, of course, the latest version of the superb Firefox browser.  While this version isn’t leaps and bounds better than the previous 1.5 version, it does introduce some great new features as well as really improving the polish of the product.

However, some of the default settings that ship with Firefox 2 might not be the best choice for power users (which, I assume, most people who read this site would be).  Lifehacker has a great post on some tweaks you can make to Firefox 2 that should improve your experience.

Update 12/04:

“Bernie’s Ramblings” has a useful post on some memory tweaks you can make that could help combat some of Firefox’s notorious RAM usage.

From Mozillalinks: “Want to add a set of bookmarks to your current tab set instead of replacing it?  Again, go to about:config and set browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace to false.”

Hisham finally gets around installing Firefox 2.0 at home, and remembering this entry from Chris, he decides to do some tweaking. He especially likes the disable prefetch as well as reverting the tab close button back to the Firefox 1.5 configuration.

Hisham discovers that his internet connection via Firefox was incredibly slow. He fears that his tweaking has caused grievous damage to Firefox’s connectivity. He sobs, “Chris! What did I ever do to you!”

Then he realized that the whole bloody region’s internet was slagged. And it wasn’t a Firefox problem. He compiles some facts and figures from all over the internet (whichever server that was still accessible) and created a work forum thread as damage control documentation and information dissemination for his colleagues.

Thurday, Dec 28, 2006:
Hisham says with a touch of irony, “Lord of the Rings is a kid’s book? No. Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort is a kid’s book. Great pictures too.”

Then he started singing the theme of Galaxy Rangers.
