I sure do love me some new equipment

I’ve spent eight hours of my day today trying to get a Roland Camm-1 Pro cad cutter put together and working.  Those of you with Macs will understand my fury at developers that make software for commercial production that are nearly always in facilities running Macs—who only have Classic OS drivers and software.  I mean come on!  That’s basically saying that anyone who has started a new business with new equipment in the past 2 1/2 years is unable to use the equipment they are selling.

Get a farking clue, take two bammed weeks and write some sucking OS X drivers, you sum and a batches.  No one wants to boot up Classic and get 20% functionality, or go scrounge on ebay from some dirty hippy‘s old System 9.x machine, just so they can make a few signs.  You’ll never be successful, and you’re never going to score.

Oh, and it also helps if you ship the right software with your machine, dorks.  You send a CX-300, send CX-300 software, not software for a bloody STIKA.

What’s the proper way to huff out of a blog?  I’ll just let you imagine the angry patter of my feet, and leave you with a “GEEBUS!”

Not sure about huffing, but it’s usually more satisfying to curse with real words… :D

... or scanners that still use SCSI.

I own a $2000.00 boat anchor, er, scanner that I bought in order to scan hundreds of oversized portraits for a big project a little over a year ago.  At the time you couldn’t get any pro level scanners that weren’t SCSI even though Apple had zero products that supported SCSI.  So, I pulled an old beige G3 out of the closet and dedicated it to running the scanner, which meant networking into it and having a lot less space in my office.  Yuck.

These days I’m into the zen approach to an office:

- Chair (ultra kick-back kind, great for afternoon naps)
- Powerbook
- Coffee

I actually get more gratification pulling the Johnny Dangerously style cursing. wink

And yeah, Rick, that’s another good example.  When one part of the industry doesn’t keep up with the backbone, it’s just retarded.
