Inconveniently True
The movie has been out for a while now, but I finally got a chance to see An Inconvenient Truth. It’s a very compelling documentary about (as I’m sure you know, dear reader) global warming. Specifically, it chronicles the efforts of Al Gore to highlight, explain, and make real the issue. Gore may seem sort of an odd person to be delivering this message—and I thought that myself beforehand—but not only has be been an advocate of this issue for decades, he’s also a surprisingly funny and engaging guide to take you along on this trek. The film highlights many shocking and eye-opening statistics and facts along the way.
If you have a chance to see this film, I’d highly recommend doing so regardless of which side of the political/environmental “fence” you might sit. The facts are laid out clearly and you can draw your own conclusions from them (though I think if you’re honest with yourself there’s really no doubt what those conclusions will be). The end of the film points you to a companion website, ClimateCrisis.net, which contains information about the book and film as well as how you can take action yourself.

I missed the only showing of that in the area this past weekend. Hopefully they’ll run it again. Tom Brokaw hosted a show on the Discovery Channel a couple nights ago title “Global Warming: What You Need to Know”. I’ve only seen the first half, but it’s fairly compelling and seems to be even keeled.
Hopefully I won’t have to wait for the DVD for An Inconvenient Truth.
