Kayaking Gear List
Seeing as I’ll be leaving on a kayaking trip tomorrow, I figured I’d throw up a kayaking gear list. This should also be useful as a camping or backpacking gear list, for the most part. Hopefully some other people can find this useful if they stumble upon it looking for a list of supplies.
Camping Gear:
Dry Bags (3-4, multiple sizes small to medium/large)
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad (therm-a-rest)
Tent
Flashlight
Headlamp (Princeton Tec Aurora)
Camp stool/chair
First Aid Kit:
Alcohol Wipes
Moleskin for blisters on hands or feet
Band-Aids
Sterile pads
Aspirin
Aleve
Antacid tablets
NuSkin liquid bandage
Bleach (water treatment)
Clothing:
Hat (preferably wide brim)
Waterproof Anorak or Poncho
Shorts / swimsuits
T-shirts (preferably non-cotton; something like CoolMax)
Underwear
Wool Beanie
Water Sandles
Paddling Gloves (preferably full-fingered)
Personal Equipment:
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Towel
Camp soap
Knife
Matches, lighter, or fire starter
Insect repellent (100% Deet)
ChapStick w/UV block
Sunglasses with safety strap
Sunscreen (waterproof, SPF 30+)
Toilet Paper (tube removed)
Wet Wipes (prefer Lever 2000 “towel wipes")
Duct Tape
Safety Equipment:
Life jacket
Rope
4-5 carabiners
Whistle
Glowsticks
Flares
Other Equipment:
Water bladders (10L and 3L)
Map with waterproof map case
Compass
GPS
Backwoods Camp permit
Camera/Film (waterproof or in waterproof container)
Spare zip-lock bags

Cooking and Food Equipment:

Pot set
Titanium spoon (or spork)
Large, multi-use cup
Food for meals
Food/snacks to keep handy in boat - high energy
