Leaky Abstractions

Every once in a while, you come upon an article that’s just really good.  It might not be that useful to most people, but for whatever reason it just gets “it” right.  I found one of those articles today.

Joelonsoftware put out an article about “leaky abstractions”.  It’s rather difficult to explain, so just go read the article.  Most programmers, web developers, etc. will find something useful in it.  If nothing else, it explains why you really do need to learn how to do it manually before using the tool (::cough:: Frontpage sucks ::cough::) that’s supposed to make it so you don’t have to learn anything.
