Let’s Go Bowling!

The “Development” group here at work is having a little party/celebration today for the fact that we shipped a new version of our product last month.  So what are we doing?  Why, bowling, of course!

I’ve always enjoyed going out for a couple of games of bowling with friends, though I haven’t done so in at least a couple of years.  Of course, there’s also the fact that I really suck at bowling.  I mean, it’s a pretty darn good game for me if I break 100!  Anyway, hopefully it’ll be fun.  Too bad we won’t be allowed to drink (as far as I know)…

Keep your eye fixed on the pins, and don’t try any of that curving stuff.  People don’t realize that the only thing that gives as an advantage is the extra spin on the ball providing more “action” to the pins.  You can get near the same action from the pins by bowling straight, and releasing the bal right.  The dumb looking wrist guards help tremendously, keeping your wrists locked straight.  I swear it’ll add 30 points to your game.

While we’re talking about bowling: Bill Murray’s character in Kingpin is my father.  Well, more specifically, Bill Murray and my father are identical in nearly every aspect, looks, mannerisms, etc., and he sometimes he bowls.  Flagrantly.
