Instead of spending my MWSF day at macworld.com, posting “ooohs”, “aaahs”, and “booos” on their site, I decided that I’ll do what some other blogs do, and repeat the news here, as if I were a real journalist. Well, I’m not. But posting here will allow me to have all the new stuff written down somewhere, and a convenient spot for me to comment on it as well. This post will be frequently updated during the MWSF 2006 Keynote given by Steve Jobs, as news is released.
Ok, so my comments? I’m actually excited about the new printed product line out of iPhoto. I still use Adobe Bridge and Photoshop to manage my digital photos (as I shoot and work in RAW with an 8MP camera), but I import finished images into iPhoto to make photobooks all the time. Calendars and greeting cards are a logical extension of that, that I’m sure I will use.
iWeb? More like iBleh. As long as .Mac won’t work with PHP, mysql, or have functionality that a regular web host has, I won’t use it. All of the data syncing and management features and integration are very nice, and is comparable to what I pay for hosting now, but it’s still too limited.
The intel iMac is quite exciting, and is certainly expected. But I can’t express enough excitement over the MacBook Pro, even though its name is horrible. Releasing this now, in February, means that no later than November (using historical precidence), a Rev B will release, which I will promptly buy. I’m frankly tempted to get this one, as there things this summer that I was really hoping to have a laptop for, but I’ll hopefully resist and do the right thing and not get the first generation hardware.
