MapSurface ‘Demo’

Over on his Blogography, Andy Budd has posted some information for a new stats package he’s been testing on his site called MapSurface.  Apparently evolved from a link tracker system, MapSurface looks pretty interesting and Andy explains in his post how you can see it in use on his site.

It does look pretty interesting to me and I appreciate being able to see the stats info on the page the stats actually cover.  The loading of the “widget” (as Andy calls it) is kind of slow, but that’s actually not a huge deal to me since you only need to do that when you want to actually examine the stats.  The recording of the stats doesn’t require the slow dynamic loading.  The actual stats themselves are good, too.  You can see relative popularity of links on each page visually and also go in and look at referrers and exit points and such.  The one thing I see missing that I personally really appreciate in a stats package is tracking of incoming search terms.  If nothing else, it’s always entertaining to see the search terms people have used that caused them to end up on your site.

Anyway, MapSurface looks pretty interesting and is still in beta, so it could very well improve even further and even add some features.
