Musician Tells the RIAA What’s What
Janis Ian, a musician with 25+ albums out over a span of 37 years, has written an interesting article about the whole internet music/RIAA thing. It’s quite a change of pace to see an artist/musician speak out so vocally about the subject. Or, at least, speak out more eloquently than most of the other artists who’ve chimed in on the subject. Here’s a quote from the article:
I suspect Greene thinks of downloaders as the equivalent of an old-style television drug dealer, lurking next to playgrounds, wearing big coats and whipping them open for wide-eyed children who then purchase black market CD’s at generous prices.
Michael Greene resigned as the president of NARAS (the home of the Grammy Awards) shortly after the article was written. (via Boing Boing)
