Pricing Software
Joel Spolsky comes out with yet another wonderful article. You know, all of his that I’ve read have been great and yet his site isn’t a regular destination for me. Hmm… I think this needs to change.
Anyway, his great article is on software pricing. As in “how to price your software”. I’ve always known this was a really tricky subject (remember the outcry over :MT: 3 anyone? And I know Rick sweated over what to charge for :EE:), but even then I didn’t really quite grasp how tricky it was. Go ahead and read the article; it’s kind of long, but it’s entertaining and informative, a combination that’s in much shorter supply than I’d prefer.
Now that you’re done with the article think again about the line about the “American teenager”. Yeah, you’ve got even less clue about software pricing now, don’t you? Yep, me, too.
