Print Magazines delivered digitally
Using the free Zinio software, many print magazines are offering themselves to be delivered digitally. Like most magazine offers, you get the free ones by signing up for trade publications. Depending on your answers to their questions, you are given a list of qualifying trade magazines. The company that is buying the trade magazine subscriptions in your behalf (generally large advertisers inside said magazines) also give you a few free magazines complimentary, like PC World, EGM, and Computer Gaming World.
The reader itself is very nice. I was afraid it would be an Acrobat clone of sorts, but the magazine is presented to you full screen on a two-page spread. When you click forward, it actually “turns” the page. If your monitor is large enough, you’ll quickly forget that you’re not holding a printed magazine in your hands. Well, if you’re using a CRT it might not be as eye-friendly, but it’s very nice on an LCD.
