Red vs Blue

I don’t remember where I first saw that last week, but I’m totally hooked now.  Red vs Blue are basically some supremely funny videos made using staged in-game footage from the game Halo.  It’s a new artform/style of animation called Machinima.

You can download several “season 2” episodes off the RvB website right now.  They also have a “rotating archive” of the season 1 episodes, with (conveniently) the original trailer and first two episodes available right now.  In addition, they have a :DVD: available for Season One that includes a bunch of extras.  I think I may have to get that.

Oh, there’s also a short interview with a couple of the RvB folks available at machinima.com.  Now, go forth and watch some of the videos!

I saw the season one DVD on New Years, and totally forgot to make a comment about it.  It’s funny, but while I’m watching it, I can’t help but think about how much time it took to do that, and how it must be nice to not have a life. wink

Well, I’m a sucker and I went ahead and ordered the DVD.  It’s more expensive than I’d prefer, but I’ve really enjoyed all the episodes I’ve watched so far and I like supporting people so that they can continue to do stuff like this, so…

Anyway, as for having no life they actually touch on that in the interview I linked to.  Basically, he said every episode is about 40-50 hours (man-hours, I assume) or work and that they all do have regular jobs.  So it’s certainly done because they really want to do it rather than “they just have nothing better to do”. [grin]

Those episodes were definitely worth it.  Might have to get the DVD too.

They broadcast season 1 at http://205.188.234.33:8064/;stream.nsv
Works fine with WinAmp, for example.
