Season Ticket Sports Packages
DISH Network sealed deals with many of the sports leagues last week, NHL included. I have purchased the NHL Open Ice Season Ticket dealie. For $129, it seemed very reasonable, considering it will broadcast over 1000 games, plus the first two rounds of the playoffs (quarter finals is always run by ABC). Without it, I wouldn’t be able to see a single game, thanks to the deal the NHL made with OLN. That channel is owned by Comcast, and DISH Network only carries it on their 180 every-channel-in-existence package. For the record, I’m happy that they did it. ESPN always had crappy NHL coverage, and would pre-empt games for interviews with Kobe Bryant about some new shoes he bought or something. As you can tell by OLN’s front page: they’re serious about hockey. They will have no qualms about pre-empting, say, a bull riding tournament, in order to be the exclusive broadcasters of the NHL. Hey, if TNT can do it with the NBA, I say have a go, OLN.
The point, though, is: do you or have you subscribed to any type of “season ticket” package for a sports league? If so, through whom and how much did you pay? Did you feel like you used it enough to justify the purchase? What did you like / dislike about it?

Appears like ABC lost out entirely when the NHL left ESPN. NBC will be carring the network broadcast games.
