Self-Parking Car

Toyata is reportedly going to be releasing a model of the hybrid Prius in Japan soon that will parallel-park itself.  “It uses a rear-mounted camera and a computer program to perform the task, consistently making a perfect reverse park without the driver touching the wheel.”

I know quite a few people around here who could use something like that, too.  I watched someone a few weeks ago try to park her truck for a good 2 minutes straight.  This wasn’t even parallel-parking, I should add—it was in a regular parking lot… and there were no other cars even close!  She was simply completely incapable of putting her truck between the two white lines.  Sheesh.

It’s a generic problem. Women don’t see straight lines. Either literally or metaphorically, only curvatures and endless possibilities. It’s a bit like a bird trying to appreciate the wonders of a frog jumping, or a frog understanding how a bird flies.

Chris, you’re a no good censor type guy!

Yeah, there were two comments, but they were duplicates.  Richard had initially accidentally posted under “Riichard”.

Incidentally, we left the parking lot while the woman was still trying to park, so who knows how long it took her.  I mean, I’d think that after 2+ minutes of trying you’d just give up and park since there weren’t any other cars around the the lot wasn’t that full.

I think that’s just one more indication that way too many people drive big SUV-type vehicles who shouldn’t.

Oh, you mean like *all* of them?  Someone should tell them that they’re are sport utility vehicles and not sub-urban vehicles.
