Star Wars Movies as MMORPG
Most people these days are at least aware of the existence of MMORPGs - online games that allow hundreds or thousands of users to all play the game together in a persistent universe. One of these games (one I don’t actually play myself, I should mention) is “Star Wars Galaxies”, which is obviously a MMORPG set in the Star Wars universe.
Well, someone decided to write out how the Star Wars movies might have looked had they actually taken place in the Star Wars Galaxies game.
The Droid Army lands on Naboo. Little do they know, so has Qui Gon Jinn. Running through the woods, agro’d by several large Droid Tanks, Qui Gon bumps into Jar Jar Binks, a noob who has only been playing for a month.
Qui Gon saves Jar Jar from the agro, and he walks off. Jar Jar does a /follow.
Jar Jar Binks: “Moy, I luv yoo!”
Qui Gon: “You almost got us ganked. Are you brainless!?”
Jar Jar: “I spek!”
Qui Gon: “The ability to speak does not make you l33t. Now get out of here.”
Jar Jar: “No, no, meesa stay. Meesa called Jar Jar Binks. Meesa put you on /friendlist!”
Qui Gon: “That won’t be necessary.”
If you’ve never played or been involved in a MMORPG at all, then many of the details and bits of humor may pass over you. However, if you’ve played other games (even if you haven’t played Star Wars Galaxies) you should really be able to appreciate this massive undertaking.
Be warned: make sure you have some time to devote to reading this if you plan on making it through more than just part of one of the movies.
