TiVoToGo is… um, Go!

Woohoo!  I just saw over on PVRBlog that the FCC gave TiVo approval for TiVoToGo.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really, really interested in TiVoToGo, which is a feature that would allow TiVo users to download content off their DVR and use it on their computer or even burn it to a DVD.

The :MPAA: and National Football League were putting pressure on the FCC to deny approval to TiVo.  They feared that it would lead to some sort of mass piracy of the content.  This, despite the fact that TiVo was already planning a number of security features, not the least of which is the necessity of using a USB “key” before you can use the content.  Man, the MPAA is getting almost as bad as the :RIAA:…

This is a BIG win for TiVo!  One of the most requested features that I hear most people talk about is the ability to copy their recorded shows to another device.  TiVoToGo will give them that feature.  I’m really looking forward to TiVoToGo!
