Unicode and Character Sets

Joel on Software has a very interesting (and fairly long) article discussing character sets, character encoding, and what you should know about it.  He touches on ASCII, ANSI, UTF-8, and lots of other stuff that you’ve probably heard of but likely didn’t really understand well.

If nothing else, this article should convince you about why it’s important to put that <meta> tag with the character encoding information in your webpages.
