It’s a sad story, that could happen to anyone elderly, really. Weird Al’s parents, in their eighties, apparently died of carbon monoxide poisoning from a wood burning stove, and had accidentally left the flue closed. Sorry, Al. At least they lived to see their grandchild you gave them last year.
