(X)HTML Definition Lists

The “definition list” (the <dl> tag and associates) is definitely one of the more underused, yet useful :HTML: tags around.  How underused is it?  Well, as far as I can remember, the first time I ever use a definition list was a few days ago when I added a page about formatting codes available in comments.  I’ve been creating web pages since ‘95 or so and just now got around to using it.

Well, the great people at Max Design put out a very nice article about using definition lists.  It talks about the tags involved, when it might be appropriate to use a definition list, and also gives a number of examples of different styling you can achieve with :CSS:.

This is an older entry and as such, it may be by a guest author or contain formatting problems / extraneous code. If you notice something wrong with the entry, please use the Contact page to let me know the entry title and issue.

Excellent!  Especially considering that I just re-discovered that tag set myself two days ago.  I used it once before, and it had something to do with the old Shadow Flight Star Wars d20 site I had for me gaming group, but for the life of me I can’t remember what I used them for.  Dreamweaver is what suggested it for whatever I was doing.

I was thinking this had very nice possibilities to be a much easier way to code up the “SWAG Interviews"…

Speaking of which, it’s getting to be the end of the month, isn’t it?  Better go knock on the mystery chooser’s door…

Word.  I’d be much eager to do an interview if I didn’t have to cut and paste all of those
